Sperm Banking Printable Version
Sperm banking is available for men to preserve their fertility potential. This is most commonly performed for men who have been diagnosed with cancer, prior to receiving chemotherapy. Another reason is men undergoing Vasectomy and need to keep some healthy sperm for future use. Men can produce several specimens. Each specimen is divided into aliquots which will yield a certain number of motile sperm after thawing. Depending on the situation, the sperm can later be used for IUI’s or with IVF. The shelf life of frozen sperm is indefinite.
